Norma Jean Gillum, 75, North Manchester passed away surrounded by family on July 11, 2023. The daughter of Carl Clyde Sr. and Minnie (Brown) Good, Norma was born May 14, 1948 in Wabash County, Indiana.
Helping to support her family, she worked as a winder at United Technologies at North Manchester and from 1981-1985 she co-owned and operated with Jimmy, Lil’ Richards restaurant at North Manchester. Using her entrepreneur spirit, Norma helped operate Gillum’s Barrel when her son Adam owned it in 2000. The following year she and Jimmy took it over and operated Top Dog Drive-In. A doting grandmother and great grandmother, she had sleepovers and a movie complete with popcorn and snacks. Fond of road trips with Jamie the destination many times being Shipshewana to explore the shops and eateries. Her passion for bingo lead her to run the games at the Laketon American Legion.
The loving memory of Norma Jean Gillum will be forever cherished by her husband, Jimmy P. Gillum, North Manchester; sons, Adam (Erin) Gillum, Wabash, Kirk (Renee) Thomas, North Manchester; daughter, Jamie (Michelle ) Gillum, North Manchester; brothers, Leonard Good, Carl (Esta) Good, Richard (Vivian) Good, all of North Manchester; sister, Violet Fitzgerald, North Manchester; ten grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Norma was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Dean, Gerald, and Bruce Good.
Family and friends may call Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling with Pastor Billy Fields and Pastor Jacob Good officiating. Burial will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley Street, North Manchester.
