Rodney Custer Obituary

Rodney William Custer, 74, North Manchester, passed away on May 17, 2023 at his home. Born in Wabash on September 2, 1948, Rodney was the son of Kenneth Eugene “Gene” and Barbara Rosann “Rosie” (Heeter) Custer.

Rodney graduated from Manchester High School class of 1967 and went on to attend a tech school in Louisville, Kentucky for two years. After returning home, he began employment at Ford Meter Box in Wabash. He later worked at Miller & Sons Lumber in Silver Lake, for many years. In 1970 Rodney joined the National Guard and was stationed in Monterey, California. On October 16, 1971, Rodney married Elizabeth Anne Craig in North Manchester. During their marriage, they were blessed with three children, Troy, Todd, and Angela. Rodney loved to pass the time by camping, fishing, and was an avid gardener.

The loving memory of Rodney William Custer will be cherished by father, Kenneth Eugene “Gene” Custer, North Manchester; his children, Troy (Rhonda) Custer, Silver Lake, Todd (Heather) Custer, North Manchester, and Angela Custer, Warsaw; siblings, Kip Gaerte, North Manchester, Taphanie Blocher, North Manchester, and Tad Custer, Carmichael, California; grandchildren, Trenton (Alexis) Custer, Roann, Tyanna (Matt) McDaniel, North Manchester, Adrianne Aughinbaugh, Sidney, Damien Lester, North Manchester, Dylan (Bella) Black, Wabash, Anthony Saunders, New Haven, Crysten Custer, Indianapolis, Kelsi (Dakota) Williams, Wabash, Austin Custer, North Manchester; twelve great-grandchildren. Rodney is preceded in death by his mother.

The family of Rodney Custer will hold a private graveside at a later date at Fairview Cemetery, Servia, Indiana.
