Rosalie (Prater) Blanton

Rosalie Blanton, 68, North Manchester, Indiana passed away at 4:50 p.m. on March 8, 2019 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne. One of eight children, Rosalie was born on July 30, 1950 in Warsaw, Indiana to Asberry and Nazzie (Bailey) Prater.

On January 31, 1969 Rosalie married the love of her life Paul Blanton. The two were married for 50 years. During their time together, Rosalie worked at Singer Controls for 37 years, retiring in 2005 after the plant was moved from North Manchester. Those who knew Rosalie described her as a woman who was a friend to all, a great cook, and a wonderful wife. Every year she loved to make fudge for her family and friends. Rosalie also enjoyed working in the garden. One of Rosalie’s greatest passions, however, was caring for her pets. From her cats to her dogs Chrissy and Holly, who passed away on November 9, 2017, her pets were a part of her family and treated like it as well.  

The loving memory of Rosalie Blanton will be carried on by her faithful and loving husband, Paul Blanton, North Manchester; one brother, Stacy Prater, Athens, Alabama; her sister and best friend, Rachel (Lonnie) Harmon, North Manchester; many other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Asberry and Nazzie Prater; three brothers, Robie Prater passed away on June 8, 1982, Tobie Prater passed away on January 5, 1997 and Leonard “Hager” Prater passed away on September 11, 2010; two sisters, Omie Harmon passed away on November 27, 1981 and Shirley Hughes passed away on February 5, 1998.

Family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service on March 15, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley Street, North Manchester. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate.
