Walter "Ed" Edward Oliver

Walter Edward “Ed” Oliver, 72, North Manchester, Indiana, passed away at his home surrounded by family on July 25, 2020 at 2:45 a.m. One of eight children, Ed was born December 5, 1947 in Rochester, Indiana, to Leo Rue and Melva A. (Lowe) Oliver.

In 1966 Ed graduated from Rochester High School. It was seven years later that Ed married his best friend Valery Owens on July 28, 1973. The two were married three days short of forty-seven years. During their wonderful time together, Ed worked as a District Manager for Pizza Hut through Daland Corporation for thirty-four years, before a stroke forced him to retire ten years ago.

Family was everything to Ed. He relished his time when the entire family came over and he could cook for them. He loved being with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, playing card games, especially Euchre and Yahtzee. Ed was a man that was loved by all, because of the way he treated people and his fun-loving personality. He took comfort in knowing that when he passed away, he would be able to still help people in need by being a donor. Ed took great pride in keeping the yard looking extravagant, feeding wildlife, hunting with his camera, and fishing.

The loving memory of Walter Edward “Ed” Oliver will be forever cherished by his wife, Valery Oliver, North Manchester; sons, Edward Oliver, Indianapolis, Wade Oliver, Greenwood, and Christian Oliver, Noblesville; daughter, Venus (John) Kauffman, Warsaw; brothers, Junior Rue (Verna) Oliver, Rochester and Harry “Jim” (Sandy) Oliver, Anderson; sisters, Ruth Ellen (David) Ballinger, Granger, Pat (Greg) Mellinger, Mackie (Don) Cowles, and Debbie (Denny) Dell, all of Rochester; twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and two dogs, Sophie Girl and Sampson. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert John Oliver who passed away on December 29, 2019.  

Family and friends may come celebrate Ed's life Sunday, August 2, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Congregational Christian Church, 310 North Walnut Street, North Manchester, Indiana.
